Drizzt, a dark elf, or drow, is born on the eve of a brutal inter-house fight. Saved from being a sacrfice to the drow's deity, Lolth, Drizzt becomes secondboy of house Do'urden. He soon learns that morals aren't high on the list or priorities for most drow, and is discontent. He pursues a life with greater meaning.
What I find most interesting about this book is the heirchary of sorts. Females are superior to males in this book, which is different from how it usually works. One thing I thought this book would be was a hard read. It wasn't that way at all. I fairly flew through the pages, and I loved every bit of it. I'll be getting the second as soon as I can, and I reccomend anyone who loves fantasy to read it. Truly awesome.
