About Me

Name:Neets
Age:15
Birthday: Nov. 9th
Location:Missouri

You know, I never quite know what to say for these things, but I'll give it my best shot. Honestly, writing about oneself in a way that actually portrays you to be the person who you feel that you are should be the definition for some type of writing. Personowritography, maybe. The biography on steroids, offering the reader a sense of clairvoyance about the author. Snazzy, no?

Anyhow, I'm Neets, the Lady of Love-lace.org. Why 'The Lady'? My site is named after Lady Ada Lovelace, so the 'Lady' is derived from her name.

The Future

For the longest time, I had wanted to be a writer. The trouble is, I've never finished a story longer than two pages, unless it was required school work. I've also found that I love to edit things. So, what does that mean I want to be? And editor, of course. I can't think of a better job for me than sitting around, reading a manuscript, and then suggesting ways to improve it. I'm sure there are things about being an editor besides that, but I won't know until I try.

One book that I will always enjoy (even though it's for younger children) is The School Story by Andrew Clements. It's about a girl who's mother is an editor for a company in New York City. Her mother mentions that the public wants school stories, and the young girl actually writes one and ends up getting it published, even though she's still in school and everything. I loved that book when I read it in elementary school, and I'm still quite fond of it now, because it represents what was once my dream.

Recently, however, I have become almost completely certain that I'd rather do something involving horses, or that perhaps I'd like to become a doctor. To keep the latter a possiblity, I've changed the courses I planned on enrolling in next year to contain advanced science. It's too early to close any doors. We'll see what happens!

Horseback Riding

For the last two years or so (it'll be exactly two years come summer '08), I've been taking lessons at Misty River. It started out with just one lesson a week with Joanna, and then it was two. Then, I became extremely interested in 3 Day Eventing, and switched over to Cassie, another instructor at Misty River who actually does eventing.

Hopefully, if I learn well and quickly enough, then I'll be able to have my own horse sometime in the summer of '08. I'd then be able to start training with it in order to begin competing. :)

Well, turns out I got Val before summer even started! I now take private lessons 2x a week on my own horse, Val. He's a 12 year old white/bay paint that's completely broke, but not so much trained. He's got lovely movement, and is learning quickly. He also enjoys jumping. :) He won first place in two classes at his first dressage schooling show! Cassie was riding him, so it's a fair bet we won't do quite so well our first time at a show together.

Of course, I've got to give you pictures of my boy! Val looking towards a jump. Some great pictures a professional took at his first show.

The Resident Fluffy Things

All of my pets are extremely important to me, and I take their names pretty seriously. Most of them have a full name and a middle name. Crazy-obssessed? Nah. Dedicated? Exactly.

Ally, AKA Canine Companion

Ally is my Cocker Spaniel. Her full name is Alianora 'Freckles' O'Dell, but everyone calls her Ally. Imagine a blond Lady from "Lady and the Tramp"- that's my girl.

Likes: Licking ice cubes. Car rides. People food. Belly scratches. Baths. Hair dryers. Her stuffed elephant RIP. Her stuffed duck, George. Bones. Treats.

Dislikes: Wet ground. Flavored bones. And...nothing. She's easy going!

Fiddlesticks, AKA Lazy Cat

Fiddlesticks, more often called Fiddle, was adopted by us the summer of '05. He's just about two year old. He is the physical embodiment of the word 'aloof'. You can cluck 'kitty kitty' until you're blue in the face, but he won't come any closer.

Likes: Cat food. Getting litter outside the box. Annoying Ally. Getting Ally in trouble. Starting fights.

Dislikes: People petting him when he's not in the mood. Being picked up. Being ignored. Being shut out of a room.

The End
That's really all I have to say for now. If I suddenly become a super hero, I won't hesitate to add on to this page!
